blooms and bouquets

Dear Readers,

We had a big day today! We got to the farm early. We put some chairs under a shady tree, and then cleaned up a bit...

And then farmer/florists began to arrive at the farm!

It was Blooms and Bouquets, the event we've been planning with Dave Dowling and Ellen Frost for almost 9 months now. Ellen, Dave, and I were looking serious as we discussing pinching in the zinnia patch:

But Ellen couldn't stay serious for long.

We discussed all aspects of flower farming, from harvesting to weeding to selling and everything in between. It was an amazing group of people- everyone was SO nice and it reminded me of how lucky I am to be a part of this community!

After the tour and hands-on portion of the morning, we seated Dave on a throne and asked him all kinds of questions that only Dave knows the answer to. I'm already wishing I had taken better notes!

In the afternoon, Ellen held a session at her studio on design and marketing. Jen is the designer at Wollam Gardens, check out her lovely bouquet...

And more hand-tied bouquets in the making...

And a final product! This is Gail, from Three Part Harmony Farm...

Thanks so much to everyone who came to Blooms and Bouquets on Monday. It was awesome!!
